Spartans To Play at U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS—For the second consecutive season, the San José State men's basketball program will take a trip to the Atlantic Ocean. The 2023-24 Spartans will participate in the 23rd annual U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam at the University of Virgin Island Sports and Fitness Center this November 17-20.
 
The Spartans begin the tournament on the 17th against Abilene Christian at 4:15 p.m AT/12:15 p.m. PT. Other games include Norfolk State vs. Fordham at 2 p.m. AT, Hampton vs. Kent State at 6:45 p.m. AT, and Missouri State vs. Florida Gulf Coast at 9 p.m. AT.

The consolation bracket will be played Saturday, Nov. 18 at 4:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., while day one winners advance to the semifinals that will be played Sunday, Nov. 19 at 6:45 p.m. and 9 p.m. AT

The tournament will conclude, Monday, Nov. 20, with the seventh-place game starting at 2 p.m. followed by the fourth-place game at 4:15 p.m. The evening session will be comprised of the third-place game at 6:45 p.m. and the tournament championship at 9 p.m.

"We are excited to play in the Paradise Jam," said Spartan head coach Tim Miles. "It is an outstanding event and a great field of competition."

Men's Field Highlights
2022 Champion – Drake; Drake and Howard were NCAA Tournament teams in 2023.
2023 participant Kent State was the AQ from the Mid-American Conference and played in last year's NCAA Tournament.
San Jose State +11 game improvement last year was one the best in the nation. The Spartans went 8-23 in 2022 before going 21-14 in 2023.
