SJSU's Angel Iniguez Named WAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State midfielder Angel Iniguez was named the WAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Iniguez led the Spartans to a 1-1 draw against CSU Bakersfield and a 2-1 win over UC San Diego in the Spartans' opening week of the 2023 season. The sophomore from Daly City was involved in all three Spartans' goals, recording an assist at Bakersfield and scoring the opener then assisting the match-winner against UC San Diego.

Last season, the Spartans received two player of the week honors; Beau Leroux earned offensive player of the week on Oct 4, 2022 and David Sweeney was voted defensive player of the week on Nov 4, 2022.

This is the first time in Iniguez' career he has received player of the week recognition.
