Spartans Play to 1-1 Draw at Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. - Riccardo Scarafia netted a goal and David Sweeney made five saves to lead the San José State men's soccer team (1-2-3, 0-0-0 WAC) in a 1-1 draw at Pacific (3-2-2, 0-0-0 WCC) on Wednesday night. 

  • With five stops, Sweeney moved into a tie for second on the Spartans' all-time saves list. He and John Olejnik (1980, 82-84) are at 242 career saves and are only 11 shy of the all-time leader, Keith Bateman (1992-95), at 253. 
  • Scarafia's goal, which occured in the 71st minute, was the second of his career and his first of the season.
  • Anthony Guzman produced the assist, his second point of the season.
  • Scarafia led the Spartans with four shots.
  • Emiliano Corona, Niklas Dossmann, Gaku Nishimura and Josh Redfield each played all 90 minutes.
