  • All home matches will be played at Spartan Gym inside the YUH Complex, located on the corner of 4th and San Carlos Streets

San Jose State

  • The Spartans enter the week with a 9-6 overall record and 0-2 in the MW.
  • SJSU has not played at home since the first weekend of the season for the San José State-Santa Clara Tournament, August 25-27. The team went 2-1 that weekend.
  • SJSU started Mountain West play last weekend with losses at UNLV (3-0) and at San Diego State (3-1).

Spartan Head Coach Todd Kress

  • Head coach Todd Kress is in his first season at the helm of the program.
  • Came to San José State after two coaching stints at Fairfield University where he led the program to five NCAA Tournament appearances
  • In his 28th year as a head coach with a 526-320 coaching record in 28 years
  • Currently 24th in the NCAA among active head volleyball coaches with 526 wins
  • Nine-time MAAC Coach of the Year

Nevada

  • The Wolf Pack enters Thursday night’s match with a 4-10 overall record and 0-3 MW mark. The team fell to Fresno State, 3-2, Tuesday night in a home match.
  • Head coach Lee Nelson is in his ninth season at the helm of the program.
  • San José State holds a 36-23 lead in the all-time series and have won the past six meetings, dating back to a 3-2 win at home over Nevada in the 2019 season. That is the only loss in the last 10 matchups.

Fresno State

  • The Bulldogs enter Saturday’s match with an 8-6 overall record and 2-1 MW mark. The team’s conference wins have come against New Mexico (3-1) and Nevada (3-2).
  • Head coach Leisa Rosen is in her first year at the helm of the program after spending the past 24 seasons on the Michigan coaching staff. She was the associate head coach for 22 of those years.
  • The Spartans hold a 55-35 advantage in the overall series, and have won the past four meetings in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. SJSU has not lost at home to Fresno State since 2019.
