SJSU Heads to Los Angeles for the 2023 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 14 San José State mens water polo team was named as one of the eight teams competing in the 2023 NCAA men's water polo championship, announced by the organization on Sunday.

It is the first appearance in the tournament for the Spartans since 1973

No. 3 USC will host the championships from December 1st - 3rd at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center in Los Angeles, Calif. The Spartans are seeded sixth and will open the tournament against the No. 3 seed USC on Friday. You can watch the first-round games and the semifinals on ncaa.com, and the national championship game will air live on ESPNU. 

  • The Spartans qualified for the NCAA tournament by winning the first-ever WCC Conference Championships. 
  • Brendon Gyapjas was named the WCC All-tournament MVP for his outstanding efforts in the cage. Manteja Bosic and Laszlo Szieben were also named to the all-tournament team. 
  • In addition to USC, the Spartans will be joined by No. 1 seed UCLA, No. 2 seed Cal, No. 4 seed Princeton, No. 8 seed Biola, No. 5 seed UC Irvine, and the No. 7 seed Fordham.
