Spartans To Take On Cal In First Round of the Raising The B.A.R. Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. – The San José State women's basketball team (3-2, 0-0 MW) starts a run of four games in six days on Friday when they take on Cal (5-0, 0-0 Pac-12) on Friday afternoon in the first round of the Raising The B.A.R. Invitational at 12 p.m.

This is the third year of the Raising The B.A.R. (Basketball, Activism, Representation), and it was created to elevate those in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging space and bring awareness to the lack of diversity in women's basketball college coaching. 

  • The Spartans are coming off their first road win of the season on Sunday, beating Loyola Marymount 61-53.
  • Jyah LoVett earned Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors for her performances against Montana State and Loyola Marymount
  • LoVett scored her new season-high 17 points against the Lions and made three 3-pointers.
  • Amhyia Moreland scored 14 points and added eight rebounds.
  • Sydni Summers had a strong game off the bench, knocking down four 3-pointers and finishing with 12 points.
  • The Spartans are outscoring their opponents 179-157 through the first three quarters this season.
  • Jasmine Singleton ranks fourth in the Mountain West in both steals and assists.
