SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State men's soccer midfielder, Beau Leroux, was selected by the San Jose Earthquakes in the second round of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft on Tuesday. Leroux was the 13th pick of the second round (42nd overall).

"I am super excited and grateful to be drafted by the Earthquakes" said Leroux. "It means a lot to me, getting the opportunity to play for my hometown team. I am super thankful for everyone that has been a part of my journey and I am especially thankful for my coaches and teammates at SJSU for what they have done for me over the past three years."

Over the past three seasons, Leroux appeared in 43 matches for the Spartans, producing seven goals and three assists. In 2022, the San Jose native was named to the All-WAC First Team and United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's All-Far West Region Team. He also helped lead the Spartans to the WAC Championship Game in 2022. Unfortunately, in 2023, he suffered an injury and missed the majority of the season.

"I am really proud of Beau, especially as he had to miss most of our season" said San José State head coach Simon Tobin. "I feel sure he has developed into one of the best players I have ever coached. It is great to see a San Jose product play at SJSU and then move on to the Quakes."

Leroux is the first Spartan to be drafted in the MLS SuperDraft since Frank Sanfilippo was selected by the Earthquakes in the sixth round (56th overall) in 2003.
