FARGO, N.D. – The San José State men’s basketball team (5-4, 0-0 MW) will battle the North Dakota State Bison (4-4, 0-0 Summit League) on Monday night at 7 p.m. CT/5 p.m. PT inside Scheels Center. Watch the contest on the Summit League Network or listen on 860 AM KTRB.
- For the Spartans’ head coach,Tim Miles, Monday’s game will be a return to Fargo, N.D. where he coached the Bison for six seasons (2001-02 – 2006-07). The last time he coached a game in Fargo was December 15, 2007 when he was the head coach at Colorado State.
- The Spartans played the Bison less than a week ago in San Jose, Calif., besting NDSU 78-65 inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center on Monday, Nov. 27.
- Trey Anderson led the Spartans in the win, scoring a season-high 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds while Myron (MJ) Amey Jr. had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- The Spartans are coming off a loss to Montana on Saturday in which William Humer was the high scorer for the Spartans with 11 points.
- Tibet Görener made a 3-pointer in the game. He is fifth all-time for most 3-pointers made at SJSU with 129 and is five away from tying Rashad Muhammad (2013-15) for fourth at 134.
- Anderson also connected on a 3-point attempt at Montana. He ranks fourth in school history in 3-point percentage (among players who have played in at least 50 games and averaged one or more three-point attempts per game). His career mark from beyond the arc is 42.6 percent, connecting on 106 of 249 attempts.
- Adrame Diongue has recorded at least one block in eight straight games.
- The Spartans lead the Mountain West Conference in 3-pointers made per game at 9.00. They are also fourth in the conference in 3-point percentage at .358.
- Alvaro Cardenas leads the Spartans with 46 assists this season. He has 247 assists in his two-plus years at San José State and needs just 12 to crack the SJSU all-time assists list.
- The Spartans have scored more than 40 points in a half six times this season.
VS. NORTH DAKOTA STATE
- The Bison are 4-4 this season and have not played since their loss to San José State on Monday.
- The Bison head coach, David Richman, is in his 10th season in charge of the program and was an assistant coach under Coach Miles for four seasons.
- The Spartans are 3-0 all-time against the Bison with this season’s victory and two wins in the 1970’s.
