COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The San José State baseball team (24-24, 15-11 Mountain West) has clinched a spot in the 2023 Mountain West Baseball Championship. The tournament will be held May 25-28 at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium in Fresno, Calif.
- The Spartans currently sit in second place in the Mountain West Conference with three conference games remaining, all at home against Nevada starting Thursday at 6:05 p.m.
- The Spartans will appear in the Mountain West Championship for the third time in five seasons and fell in the championship game last season.
- This season, the Spartans have been a mixture of quality hitting and pitching. The Spartans rank third in the conference in both batting average (.278) and on-base percentage (.368) and they rank second in the conference in opposing batting average (.273).
- The Spartans beat Texas last Friday in Austin, Texas, 6-4.
