COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—San José State women’s gymnasts Jaudai Lopes and Mia Nelson have been honored by the Mountain West after their performances last week at the Boise State Quad meet.
Jaudai Lopes – MW Co-Vault Specialist of the Week
- Scored a 9.900 on vault to capture the co-title at the Boise State Quad
- Second consecutive week to earn this honor
Mia Nelson – MW Floor Specialist of the Week; Co-Freshman of the Week
- Recorded the team’s highest score of the season with a 9.925 on floor to win the event
- Tied for the highest mark by a freshman last week
- Helped the floor team to a 49.425, tying for the season-best floor score in school history
- Only the 19th time in school history that a Spartan has recorded a 9.925 on floor
UP NEXT – The Spartans host the first of three consecutive home meets on Sunday, January 28, against Sacramento State. The meet begins at 2 p.m., inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
