RENO, Nev. - The San José State men's basketball team (8-13, 1-7 MW) will battle the Nevada Wolf Pack (16-5, 3-4 MW) Friday night on FS1 and KTRB 860 AM. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. inside the Lawlor Events Center.

GÖRENER ONE 3-POINTER AWAY FROM SJSU HISTORY

  • Tibet Görener is currently second in San José State history for most career 3-pointers with 160 and is only one 3-point make away from tying the all-time leader, Ryan Welage (2015-18).

AMEY JR. LEADS SPARTANS AT NO. 17 UTAH STATE

  • Myron (MJ) Amey Jr. scored 14 points and secured seven rebounds to lead the Spartans in an 82-61 loss at Utah State on Tuesday.
  • Christian Wise played a career-high 14 minutes and also recorded seven rebounds.1
  • Alvaro Cardenas was the second Spartan to score in double figures as he produced 11 points to go along with five assists.

SEASON SUMMARY

  • The Spartans lead the Mountain West Conference in 3-pointers made per game at 9.1.
  • Four of the eight conference games for SJSU have been decided by three points or fewer. They lost at Wyoming on a buzzer beater, fell by only three to No. 19 San Diego State, won at the buzzer at Air Force and lost on a last-second shot at Fresno State. 
  • The Spartans have outscored their Mountain West opponents in the first half of games, 315-294.
  • Cardenas ranks 17th and 19th in Division I in assists per game (6.1) and assist/turnover ratio (3.10). In the conference, he is fifth and second in the two categories.
  • Adrame Diongue is second in the conference in blocks per game at 1.70. Diongue has played in 20 games and registered 34 blocks.

RECORD WATCH

  • Görener is second in SJSU history in 3-pointers attempted with 469. Tim Pierce (2007-09) is first in attempts with 471.
  • Cardenas ranks sixth all-time for most career assists at SJSU with 328. Omari Moore (2020-23) is fifth with 429.
  • Trey Anderson ranks fourth in school history in 3-point percentage (among players who have played in at least 50 games and averaged one or more 3-point attempts per game). His career mark from beyond the arc is 41.7 percent, connecting on 118 of 283 attempts. 

VS. NEVADA

  • The Nevada Wolf Pack are coming off an 89-55 loss at New Mexico on Sunday.
  • The Spartans are 52-65 all-time against Nevada.
  • The Spartans took down the Wolf Pack in the most recent matchup, 81-77, in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Mountain West Tournament. It was the Spartans' first-ever Mountain West Tournament win.
