Three Spartans Score Double Digits In Tight Loss To Aztecs

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Amhyia Moreland scored a game-high 18 points to lead San José State (6-17, 1-10 MW), but the Spartans fell just short against San Diego State (16-9, 7-5 MW), losing 63-62 on Saturday afternoon.

  • Moreland went 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the contest.
  • The junior forward also pulled down five rebounds.
  • Sofia Kelemeni scored a career-high 12 points and dished out a career-high five assists.
  • Kelemeni went 4-for-6 from behind the arc and also pulled down six rebounds.
  • Freshman Sydni Summers rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Spartans with 11 points and a pair of 3-pointers.
  • The Spartans held the lead for over 26 minutes in the contest.
  • SJSU also out-rebounded the Aztecs 38-27 with 15 offensive rebounds.
  • The Spartans also out-shot San Diego State at 44.2 percent to 37 percent by the Aztecs.
  • The Spartans bench combined for 18 points in the contest.
