BOGOTA, Colombia - San José State men's golf alumnus Kevin Velo won the Korn Ferry Tour's Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard which took place February 8-11 at the Country Club de Bogota.
- Velo set a tournament scoring record of 261 (-22).
- He shot consecutive rounds of 64-67-64-66.
- His birdie-birdie finish in the final round forced a playoff.
- He overcame a four-shot deficit in the final four holes and secured the win on the first playoff hole.
- The tournament victory is the first of Velo's career on the Korn Ferry Tour.
- He played for San José State from 2015-16 to 2018-19.
- His best collegiate finishes were second place at both the 2017 Alister MacKenzie Invitational and the 2019 Bandon Dunes Championship.
