The San José State women’s gymnastics team heads to Logan, Utah, for the first time under head coach Joanne Bowers as the Spartans compete at Utah State Friday night in a Mountain West meet inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT.

  • This meet marks the first time that Mountain West foes will compete against each other this season.
  • The two teams will also compete at Air Force on March 1 and at the MW Championships in Logan on March 23.
  • San José State enters the week ranked 35th nationally with a 195.692 scoring average. The team is 32nd on the floor, 34th on bars, 35th on vault and 38th on beam.
  • Utah State is currently 46th nationally with a 194.729 average and scored a season-high 196.275 in a home meet with Southern Utah earlier this month.
  • Lauren Macpherson earned MW Gymnast of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after recording a 39.450 last week.
  • She was also the MW Beam Specialist of the Week after winning the event with a season-high 9.925.
  • Jada Mazury won the floor last week with a 9.925 and earned MW Co-Floor Specialist of the Week honors, her second floor honor and third honor overall this year.
  • Last meet, the Spartans scored a 49.000 or better on all four events, with floor leading the way at 49.350.
  • The vault team had a season-high 49.000, while the beam recorded a season-best 49.050. The bars team scored a 49.000, the second 49+ score for them this year.
