MORAGA, Calif. - Irena Muradyan and Cheuk Ying Shek won in both singles and doubles to lead the San José State women's tennis team (4-0, 0-0 Mountain West) in a 4-3 victory over Saint Mary's (3-3, 0-0 WCC) on Friday afternoon.
- Muradyan and Ying Shek played together on the No. 1 doubles court, earning a 6-2 win as the pair improved to 4-0 together on the season.
- Muradyan and Ying Shek both won in straight sets in singles with Muradyan earning a 6-1, 7-5 victory on court two and Ying Shek besting her opponent, 6-4, 6-0, on court three.
- Carolina Millan displayed her typical dominance in the No. 1 singles flight, winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to remain undefeated in singles in 2024.
- The doubles pair of Rozalina Youseva and Duru Durgun were victorious on court three, 6-4.
- For the Spartans, it was their first win at Saint Mary's since April 8, 2003.
- 4-0 is the best start to a season for the Spartans since the 2021 season in which they made the NCAA Team Championships and won their first 14 contests of the year.
