Spartans Sweep First Day of the Silicon Valley Classic I

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Reina Zermeno went 4-for-6 with a pair of RBIs while Lacie Ham and Mia Reynolds each threw complete game shutouts to lead San José State (3-4, 0-0 MW) softball with a 3-0 win over Seattle U (3-4, 0-0 WAC) and a 3-1 win over Cal Poly (6-2, 0-0 Big West) in the first day of the Silicon Valley Classic I from Spartan Softball Stadium.

The Spartans have won three games in a row overall.

For Ham, that's her 11th career complete game, second one this season and also her second career complete game shutout. Reynolds now has five career complete games and this was her first one at SJSU.

Game One vs. Seattle U

  • Zermeno went 3-for-3 with one run scored.
  • Ham had two strikeouts and Seattle U left seven on base in her complete game performance and her second win of the season.
  • Aubrie Thomas scored on a fielding error in the first inning.
  • Aneesa Almaguer and Korie Thomas each hit RBI singles.
  • Ahmiya Noriega had her first triple of the season and went 1-for-3 plus scored a run.
  • Taylor Squires went 1-for-3.
  • The Spartans had at least one base runner in the first three innings.

Game Two vs. Cal Poly

  • Reynolds had a season-high five strikeouts in her first win at SJSU.
  • Zermeno went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and hit her first triple of the season.
  • A. Thomas went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and hit her first double of the season.
  • Shay McDowell hit an RBI single.
  • Ah. Noriega went 1-for-3 in the win.
  • The Mustangs left 10 on base.
