ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Kendall McCoy put together a strong performance in the women's pentathlon, finishing in sixth place overall, to lead the San José State track & field team on day one of the Mountain West Indoor Championships on Thursday.
- McCoy finished in third place in the 60-meter hurdles event, ending with a time of 8.90, a new personal best, and earned 3,486 during day one of the event.
- McCoy also had personal bests in the 800-meter run (2:34.73), long jump (5.34 meters) and the shot put (10.72 meters, while tying her personal best in the high jump with a jump of 1.56 meters.
- Hazel Gaspire placed second in the high jump event of the pentathlon. Her mark was at 1.68-meters, which was a personal best, and she earned 3,325 points overall for the Spartans.
- Gaspaire also had personal-best marks in the 60-meter hurdles (9.39 seconds) and the shot put (8.98 meters), while tying her personal best in the long jump (5.31 meters).
- Savana Dutton finished with personal bests in four of the five events: 60-meter hurdles (9.29 seconds), high jump (1.53 meters), long jump (5.43 meters) and shot put (8.47).
- Riley Costales also finished with personal best in the pentathlon, including the 800-meter run (2:40.14), 60-meter hurdles (9.29 seconds), high jump (1.41 meters) and the long jump (5.23).
