COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—San José State women’s gymnasts Lauren Macpherson, Jada Mazury and Mia Nelson have earned Mountain West Gymnast of the Week honors this week for their performances Sunday afternoon at UC Davis.
Lauren Macpherson – MW Beam Specialist of the Week
- Won the beam as she tied her school record with a 9.950 at UC Davis
- Helped the beam team set a new record with a 49.350
- Third beam specialist award this season and ninth award overall
Jada Mazury – MW Co-Floor Specialist of the Week
- Tied for first on floor with her third 9.925 of the year
- Fifth floor title of the season
- One of three MW gymnasts to score a 9.925 on floor this week
- Helped the floor team record a 49.275
- Third floor specialist of the week honor and fourth overall honor
Mia Nelson – MW Vault Specialist of the Week
- Won a share of the vault title Sunday with a season-best 9.875
- First vault title of her collegiate career
- Helped the vault team score a season-best 49.075
- First specialist of the week honor this season and second honor this year (Freshman, Jan. 23)
UP NEXT – The Spartans travel to Colorado this weekend for two meets. The team competes at Air Force Friday with Utah State beginning at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT. On Sunday, the Spartans compete at a quad meet hosted by Denver with Air Force and Lindenwood beginning at 1:45 p.m. MT/12:45 p.m. PT.
