Jagielski, Kovacs and Freiman Receive All-Mountain West Honors

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State diver Jenna Jagielski and swimmers Réka Kovács, and Ela Freiman were named to the All-Mountain West team on Wednesday morning. 

"I am so proud of Ela, Jenna, and Réka's accomplishments and contributions to our program.  To see and be a part of their development as student-athletes is a humbling experience that our staff is so thankful to be a part of.  In Réka's case, as a graduating senior, we will miss her so much and look forward to cheering on all of her upcoming life achievements," said head coach Sage Hopkins. 

Jenna Jagielski: 1-meter & 3-meter dive 

  • Set a school record and finished third in the 1-meter springboard with a score of 323.40 on the first day of the Mountain West Championships. 
  • The first SJSU diver to finish in the top 3 of the 1-meter springboard since joining the conference in 2013-14. 
  • Broke the old record of 315.45 set by Cari Reiswig in 2017 by nearly 8 points 
  • Broke the school record in the 3-meter dive with a score of 349.60 to place third at the second day of the Mountain West Championships. 
  • Qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in all three diving events. 

Ela Freiman: 200-yard IM & 400-yard IM 

  • Broke the school record in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:00.28 to place fourth in the event. The previous record was 2:00.41 set by Morgan McCormick in 2015.
  • Recorded a personal best in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:17.02 to place fourth in the event on the third day of the Mountain West Championships. 
  • A part of the relay team that placed fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:16.83, the third fastest in SJSU history. 

Réka Kovács: 200-yard Freestyle & 200-yard Butterfly

  • Recorded a personal best and the sixth-fastest SJSU 200-yard freestyle time with a 1:49.20 to take seventh in the finals on the third day of the Mountain West Championships. 
  • Placed fifth in the finals of the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:59.52.
  • This is the second Mountain West honor for Kovacs this season after being named swimmer of the week on February 6th.
