COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West released the 2024 football schedule on Thursday and San José State will open conference play week two at Air Force, plus play four conference home games.
"We're really excited about bringing seven home games including four home Mountain West Conference games to our fans and One Spartan Nation," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "We think it is a very competitive schedule and a great measuring stick for our football program."
This is the earliest the Spartans have opened conference play since the 2015 season when they opened at Air Force also in week two. It's also the first time the Spartans have had seven home games since the 2006 season and the first time since 2007 the Spartans will play three straight home games.
Dates are subject to change. Television broadcast information and times to be announced at a later date.

Week 1 (Aug. 29) vs. Sacramento State - CEFCU Stadium
- The Spartans and Hornets have only met once in a 24-0 SJSU SJSU win in 2013 from CEFCU Stadium
- This is the first FCS opponent for the Spartans since 2022 when they opened the season against Portland State which was also a Thursday
Week 2 (Sept. 7) at Air Force (Mountain West)
- This will be the seventh meeting between the schools
- It will be the first time since 2019 the Spartans have traveled to Colorado Springs
Week 3 (Sept. 14) vs. Kennesaw State - CEFCU Stadium
- This is the first meeting between the schools
- 2024 will be Kennesaw State's first season as an FBS school
Week 4 (Sept. 21) at Washington State
- The Spartans have won two of the last four meetings
- The first game was played between the schools in 1955
Week 5 (Sept. 28) - Bye Week
Week 6 (Oct. 5) vs. Nevada (Mountain West) - CEFCU Stadium
- The Spartans have won two of the last three overall
- SJSU beat Nevada 35-28 at CEFCU Stadium in 2022
Week 7 (Oct. 12) at Colorado State (Mountain West)
- SJSU beat CSU 28-16 in their last meeting in 2022
- First trip to CSU for the Spartans since 2021
Week 8 (Oct. 19) vs. Wyoming (Mountain West) - CEFCU Stadium
- SJSU has won five of their last six against the Cowboys
- The Spartans won 33-16 in Wyoming in 2022
Week 9 (Oct. 26) at Fresno State (Mountain West)
- The Spartans beat No. 25 Fresno State 42-18 in 2023
- SJSU has won two of the last four overall
Week 10 (Nov. 2) - Bye Week
Week 11 (Nov. 9) at Oregon State
- Part of Mountain West scheduling agreement and the teams last played in 2023
- The Spartans have won two games at Oregon State
Week 12 (Nov. 16) vs. Boise State (Mountain West) - CEFCU Stadium
- The Spartans and Broncos have split their last two meetings
- This is the first trip to CEFCU Stadium for the Broncos since 2019
Week 13 (Nov. 23) vs. UNLV (Mountain West) - CEFCU Stadium
- The Spartans have won four in a row over UNLV who they shared the MW regular season championship with in 2023
- SJSU has won 12 of their last 14 overall against UNLV
Week 14. (Nov. 30) vs. Stanford - CEFCU Stadium
- The Bill Walsh Legacy Game was last played in 2013
- SJSU has beat their Bay Area rival 14 times
