Summers, LoVett Named To Mountain West All-Freshman Team

AllFreshman

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sydni Summers and Jyah LoVett were both named to the Mountain West All-Freshman Team, the league announced Sunday, after putting up two stellar freshman campaigns for the Spartans this season.

It is the first time in SJSU history that the Spartans have had two on the All-Freshman Team, and it's the second time in school history that the Spartans have had back-to-back appearances on the All-Freshman Team since 2012 and 2013 (Sabrina Ma, 2023).

"Sydni's on-court growth has been phenomenal, while Jyah has had the opportunity to grow and see the game from a different lense for the latter portion of the season following her explosive start to conference play," head coach April Phillips said.

"Our staff has done an amazing job at recruiting young talent here in the state of California, as both Jyah and Sydni are SoCal natives. These young women are staples in the future of this program. Individually, they are both extremely talented in their own right, and together, they have the potential to be one of the best backcourts in this conference and do program-changing things here at SJSU."

SYDNI SUMMERS:

  • Started 14 games and appeared in 27 in her freshman campaign.
  • 11th in the Mountain West during league play in 3PT FGs made, averaging 1.85 per game.

  • Recorded a double-double against Bethesda on Nov. 27 with 13 points and 10 assists off the bench.
  • She was the first Spartan since December 14, 2019 to record double-digit assists at the time of that game.
