Thompson Shines in Spartans' Loss to Air Force

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Left-handed pitcher Micky Thompson tossed 6.0 innings, allowing only two runs on four hits while striking out seven to lead the San José State baseball team (6-8, 2-3 Mountain West) in a 4-1 loss to Air Force (5-9, 1-1 Mountain West) on Saturday afternoon.

  • LHP Jesse Gutierrez entered in relief of Thompson and completed 1.2 shutout innings with three strikeouts.
  • Dalton Bowling, Nathan Cadena, Hunter Dorraugh and Kimo Fukofuka each registered a hit for the Spartans.
  • Fukofuka also produced an RBI sacrifice fly.
  • Cadena reached base safely in three of his four plate appearances.
  • For Thompson, the seven strikeouts were the most he recorded in a game since his first-ever appearance with the Spartans when he tallied eight against the University of Nebraska at Omaha on Feb. 19, 2022.
