SAN FRANCISCO – Sebastian Orduno hit his first home run as a Spartan, and SJSU pitching struck out 13 batters, but it wasn't enough as San José State (6-11, 2-4 MW) fell 7-6 to the University of San Francisco (12-5, 0-0 WCC) in 11 innings on Wednesday afternoon.
- The Spartans jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after a solo home run from Dalton Bowling in the second inning, and a three-run home run from Orduno in the third inning.
- The Dons rallied to take a 6-4 lead heading into the eighth inning before Nathan Cadena drove in two runs with a single in the top of the eighth to tie it 6-6.
- Nolan George got the start on the mound and matched his career high with four strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings pitched.
- Tyler Albanese pitched four innings of relief, also striking out four batters.
- Corey Sanchez and Cade Van Allen both struck out one batter in one inning each, while Caden Duke struck out the side in his first of two innings pitched.
- Bowling and Cadena both led the Spartans with two hits each.
- Bowling's home run brings his season total to six, which leads the Spartans and the Mountain West.
