Spartans Open Mountain West Play Hosting New Mexico for Three-Game Series

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State softball (9-10, 0-0 Mountain West) will kick off conference play this weekend and host New Mexico (7-21, 0-0 Mountain West) for a three-game series starting Friday, March 15 at 6:00 p.m. from Spartan Softball Stadium. All three games can be seen on the Mountain West Network.

 SCHEDULE (Spartan Softball Stadium)

  • Friday at 6:00 p.m. vs. New Mexico
  • Saturday at 3:00 p.m. vs. New Mexico 
  • Sunday at 12:00 p.m. vs. New Mexico 

NEWS AND NOTES

  • Aubrie Thomas hit .462 with six hits, one RBI and one run scored in the SVC II (03/08-10). 
  • Thomas currently leads the spartans in on-base pct. and walks this season.
  • Alexis Toner pitched in every game of the SVC II and posted a 1.79 ERA over 15.2 IP with 10 strikeouts.
  • Reina Zermeno hit a walk-off RBI single on the final day of the SVC II to secure a win over North Dakota State.
  • Zermeno leads the Spartans with a .357 batting average, as well as leads the team in hits, home runs and slugging pct.
  • Haley Reeve scored the winning run on Sunday’s walk off win and is on a career-best four game hit streak going into the series this weekend.
  • The Spartans went 3-2 during the SVC II playing against Iowa, Bakersfield, North Dakota State and No. 6 Stanford.
  • The Spartans are 27-21 all-time against New Mexico and 3-2 in the last five games.
