Spartans Track & Field To Compete At Hornet Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The San José State track & field team gets its outdoor season fully underway on Friday and Saturday as they compete in the Hornet Invitational, hosted by Sacramento State.

  • The Spartans are coming off a successful indoor season where they saw seven Mountain West titles and had appearances in the NCAA National Indoor Championships from Emilia Sjostrand and Sky Hagan.
  • Sjostrand earned All-American honors in the indoor triple jump after finishing in second place at the Indoor National meet, and she is the defending Mountain West outdoor champion in both the long jump and triple jump.
  • Sjostrand was an Outdoor All-American last season in both the long jump and triple jump.
  • Demaris Waters is the defending Mountain West champion in the 110-meter hurdles where he set the facility and Mountain West conference/championship record with a time of 13.51 seconds.
  • Jeremiah Walker will compete in the 200-meter dash, where he is the defending Mountain West Champion after a time of 20.61 seconds in Albuquerque, N.M., last season. He is also the defending Mountain West champion in the 400-meter dash.

UP NEXT: Following the Hornet Invitational, the Spartans will travel down to Fresno to compete in the West Coast Relays on March 22-23.
