ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Dalton Bowling had three doubles and a home run San José State (8-14, 4-6 MW) rallied to win 16-13 in the series opener against New Mexico (13-9, 4-3 MW) on Friday night.
- Bowling went 5-for-6 at the plate with three doubles and a home run in the top of the ninth inning that gave the Spartans a 15-13 lead.
- Zach Griffin hit his first home run as a Spartan in the top of the ninth that gave the Spartans a 14-13 lead.
- Robert Hamchuk went 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run in the second inning and a pair of singles with a walk.
- He drove in three runs and also scored three.
- Theo Hardy was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a triple and a double while scoring three runs and driving in two.
- Cade Van Allen earned the win on the mound after pitching the final three innings and striking out five batters.
- Sebastian Orduno hit his second home run of the season in the top of the ninth to make it 16-13.
- Hunter Dorraugh had a pair of hits and scored a run.
- Nolan George pitched two and two-thirds innings while striking out two batters.
- Caden Duke struck out two in two-thirds of an inning.
- The Spartan offense scored in eight of the nine innings and out-hit the Lobos 22-11.
- The 16 runs is the most scored by the Spartans since March 7 of last season when they scored 23 against San Francisco.
UP NEXT: The Spartans and Lobos will close out the series on Saturday with a doubleheader. Game one is slated for a 1 p.m. PT start.
