ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Robert Hamchuk had a perfect day at the plate in game one of a doubleheader, but San José State (8-16, 4-8 MW) dropped both games to New Mexico (15-9, 6-3 MW) to close out the three-game series.
They lost game one 7-5, followed by a 17-4 loss in the second game.
GAME 1:
- Hamchuk was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk. He also drove in a run and scored a run.
- Dalton Bowling kept his hot bat alive in game one of the doubleheader with his fourth double of the series and driving in a run.
- Nik Trapani hit his first home run of the season in the top of the seventh in a 2-for-4 game at the plate.
- Trapani scored three runs and drove in one.
- Micky Thompson pitched five and one-third innings in the start and struck out two.
- Michael Rice pitched one and two-thirds innings of relief and also struck out two.
GAME 2:
- Sebastian Orduno drove in two in a 1-for-2 game at the plate with a double and a walk.
- Hamchuk added two more hits on the day and went 2-for-4 in game two.
- Bowling scored two runs and drew a walk.
- Tyler Albanese struck out three in one inning of relief.
UP NEXT: The Spartans return home to take on San Francisco on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 5:05 p.m.
