Spartans Travel To Santa Barbara To Take On Gauchos

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The San José State baseball team (8-17, 4-8 MW) is scheduled for a two-game series at UC Santa Barbara (13-8, 4-2 Big West) starting on Thursday evening at 4:05 p.m.

The series, originally slated for three games, has been changed to two games due to weather. Game two on Friday is now scheduled for an 11:05 a.m. first pitch.

PROBABLE STARTERS:

Thursday: LHP Ethan Ross (1-4, 7.62 ERA) vs. RHP Ryan Gallagher (2-0, 2.18 ERA)

Friday: LHP Micky Thompson (1-2, 7.04 ERA) vs. LHP Mike Gutierrez (1-0, 3.60 ERA)

SAN JOSÉ STATE:

  • This is the first non-conference weekend series for the Spartans since Feb. 23-25 against Seattle U.
  • The Spartans are looking for their first win over the Gauchos since Feb. 22, 2014.
  • Dalton Bowling is tied for the Mountain West lead in home runs with nine.

  • The Gauchos enter this series as losers of three of their last four games.
