LAS VEGAS - Alvaro Cardenas scored 17 points to lead the San José State men's basketball team (9-21, 2-15 Mountain West) in a 68-50 loss at UNLV (18-10, 11-5 Mountain West) on Saturday night.
- Cardenas shot an efficient 6-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range.
- Myron (MJ) Amey Jr. grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
- Amey Jr. and Trey Anderson each dished out four assists. The four assists for T. Anderson tied his career high.
- T. Anderson played the entire 40 minutes.
- The Spartans went on a 9-0 run in the second half and were only outscored by three in the frame.
- The Spartans did not substitute in the second half as Cardenas, Amey Jr., T. Anderson, Latrell Davis and Tibet Görener played all 20 minutes together.
- SJSU forced 19 turnovers by UNLV which is the most by a Mountain West opponent against the Spartans this season.
