Spartans Earn Multiple Top-Five Finishes In Outdoor Opener

BERKELEY, Calif. – The San José State track & field team opened its outdoor season on Saturday with a number of top-five finishes, including a win in the 2000 steeplechase by Alexander Walker, to start the outdoor season following a successful indoor season.

  • Walker finished the 2000 steeplechase with a time of 6:37.44.
  • Gabriella Hernandez took second in the women's 2000 steeplechase in 8:01.03.
  • Amanda Chalburg ran the 3000-meter run in 10:32.05, finishing in fourth place.
  • Christopher Malone earned fifth place in the men's 400-meter dash, finishing in 50.75 seconds.

UP NEXT: Emilia Sjostrand and Sky Hagan will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston on March 8-9, and the Spartans will be back in outdoor action on March 15-16 at the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento, Calif.
