Boise, Idaho – Reina Zermeno and Ashley Rico hit back-to-back home runs to lead San José State softball (12-16, 3-3 MW) as they took the win in the final game of this three game series against Boise State (23-14, 3-3 Mountain West) on Saturday.
- Zermeno and Rico’s back-to-back jacks came in the top of the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie and give the Spartans the lead over the Broncos.
- Zermeno went 1-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and one run scored.
- Rico went 1-for-3 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored.
- Ahmiya Noriega went 1-for-4 with the big two RBI double to reclaim the lead for the Spartans in the top of the eighth inning.
- Haley Reeve went 3-for-4 with two runs scored
- Aubrie Thomas went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
- Malia Luna went 1-for-4 with a single.
- Mia Reynolds was strong in her start going 4 IP holding the Broncos scoreless with three hits and three strikeouts.
- The Spartans hit .467 with two outs in this game going 7-for-15.
- The Spartan bats came up big when it counted with six two out RBIs.
