COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San José State's Reina Zermeno was named Mountain West Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Zermeno, a sophomore from Sacramento, Calif., scored all the runs for the Spartans on Sunday and hit .533 with eight hits, six RBIs, six runs scored, four doubles, a home run, had two stolen bases including stealing home on Saturday, plus had a 1.000 slugging pct. and a .533 on base pct. in the five games of the Judi Garman Classic.
- This is the first Mountain West weekly award for Zermeno.
- This is the second Mountain West weekley award for the Spartans this season (Ham was named MW Pitcher of the Week on 2/19).
- Zermeno is second in the MW with a .462 batting average.
- She is fourth in the MW with a .795 slugging pct and fifth in the MW with a .500 on base pct.
- Zermeno has only struck out twice this season in 39 at-bats.
- She leads the Spartans in batting avg., hits, runs, home runs, doubles, RBIs, slugging pct. and on base pct.
