SAN JOSE, Calif. - Alvaro Cardenas recorded his fourth double-double of the season to lead the San José State men's basketball team (9-22, 2-16 Mountain West) in a 90-70 loss to No. 22 Utah State (25-5, 13-4 Mountain West) on Wednesday night.
- Cardenas registered 18 points and 10 assists, tying his career high in the latter.
- Myron (MJ) Amey Jr. scored a team-high 20 points on an efficient 7-for-14 from the field and 3-for-5 from 3-point range. He also led the Spartans with seven rebounds.
- Trey Anderson and Tibet Görener each added 11 points.
- Görener tied his career high of two blocks.
- The Spartans outscored the Aggies in the paint, 38-28.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will head to Las Vegas for the Mountain West Tournament on Wednesday, March 13. The Spartans' seed and opponent in the first round is still to be determined.
