SAN JOSE, Calif. – Makenzie Hutchinson had a two RBI single and Haley Reeve had three hits on the day to lead San José State softball (8-10, 0-0 MW) in a 4-3 win over North Dakota State (10-16, 0-0 Summit) and a 10-2 loss against No. 6 Stanford (17-4, 0-0 Pac-12) in the second day of the Silicon Valley Classic II from Spartan Softball Stadium.
In the first game, Aubrie Thomas hit a bases loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning to score her sister, Korie Thomas, from third and give the Spartans a 4-3 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Game One vs. NDSU
- Hutchinson went 1-for-2 with two RBI's and one run scored.
- Reeve went 2-for-3 and it was her first career two hit game.
- Taylor Squires went 1-for-2 with an RBI and had two stolen bases.
- Alexis Toner pitched the final 2.1 innings and only let up one hit while having one strikeout.
- Ahmiya Noriega and Ashley Rico also scored runs for the Spartans.
- The Spartans left eight on base.
Game Two vs. No. 6 Stanford
- Reeve had an RBI single for her second RBI on the season.
- Shay McDowell also had an RBI in the game.
- Rico went 2-for-3 with her first double of the season and a run scored.
- Toner pitched 6.0 innings of relief and let in four earned runs while striking out a pair.
- The Spartans had seven hits and left seven on base.
- Stanford scored seven runs in the first inning.
