LAS VEGAS – The No. 10 seed San José State women's basketball team (7-23, 2-16 MW) heads to Las Vegas to take on the No. 7 seed San Diego State Aztecs (19-12, 10-8 MW) in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The game is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start on Sunday afternoon with the winner facing off against No. 2 seed New Mexico on Monday.
- The Spartans are coming off an 82-65 loss in their season finale at Nevada on Tuesday.
- SJSU enters the Mountain West Tournament at the No. 10 seed for the second-straight season.
- Sofia Kelemeni scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Spartans.
- Kelemeni has recorded a new career high in either points or rebounds in six games this season.
- SJSU ranks inside the top five in the Mountain West in offensive rebounding percentage (1st), rebounding defense (3rd), blocked shots (4th), steals (4th), rebounding margin (5th), FG percentage (4th) and assists (5th).
- Amhyia Moreland is second during Mountain West play in offensive rebounds, third in FG percentage, fourth in blocked shots and 11th in scoring.
- Sabrina Ma is currently fifth in the Mountain West during league play, averaging 2.07 3PT FGs per game.
- The Aztecs knocked off the Spartans with a last-second shot in their previous meeting on Feb. 10, winning 63-62.
- The Spartans knocked off No. 7 seed Air Force as the No. 10 seed in last year's tournament, their first tournament win since 2020.
