FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Keaton Chase finished with a career high in strikeouts as San José State (12-20, 7-8 MW) fell 5-1 to top-ranked Arkansas (28-3, 11-1 SEC) on Tuesday night.
- Chase punched out seven Arkansas batters in four and two-thirds innings pitched.
- It is the third time in the last four games where a Spartan pitcher has recorded at least seven strikeouts.
- Matt Spear hit his second home run of the season to put the Spartans up 1-0 in the top of the second inning.
- The home run was 109 miles per hour off the bat and traveled 442 feet over the right field fence.
- Sebastian Orduno had the first hit for the Spartans in the top of the first inning.
- Jesse Gutierrez struck out a pair in two and one-third innings pitched in relief of Chase while only surrendering one hit.
