Spartans Set For Big Mountain West Series At Nevada

RENO, Nev. – The San José State baseball team (12-21, 7-8 MW) is set for its sixth Mountain West Series this season when they take on Nevada (12-16, 7-7 MW) this weekend, April 12-14. First pitch on Friday is slated for 6:05 p.m.

PROBABLE PITCHING MATCHUPS:

FRIDAY: TBD vs. RHP Jason Doktorczyk (1-2, 5.40 ERA)

SATURDAY: LHP Micky Thompson (2-3, 6.43 ERA) vs. TBD

SUNDAY: TBD vs. RHP Peyton Fosher (1-2, 7.90 ERA)

SAN JOSÉ STATE:

  • The Spartans are coming off a two-game series at No. 1 ranked Arkansas where they dropped both games, 5-1 and 8-2.
  • Matt Spear hit a home run in both games.
  • Spartan pitchers struck out a total of 15 batters at Arkansas.
  • The Spartans are also coming off a three-game sweep over San Diego State in their last Mountain West series.
  • Robert Hamchuk is batting .446 against Mountain West pitching this season.
  • Dalton Bowling is tied for first in doubles with 14 on the season.
  • The Spartans have won the last five matchups with Nevada and eight of the last 10 dating back to 2022.

NEVADA:

  • The Wolf Pack enter this series after losing their previous four Mountain West matchups.
  • Nevada has Mountain West series wins over San Diego State, New Mexico and UNLV.
  • Nevada is third in the league in doubles with 72.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will not have a midweek matchup following the Nevada series. They'll instead head to Fresno to take on the Bulldogs for the second time this season on April 19-21.
