Spartans Rally Late But Fall Short In Game Two At Nevada

RENO, Nev. – Matt Spear sent one over the wall for the third time this week, but San José State (12-23, 7-10 MW) came up short on Saturday, dropping game two to Nevada (14-16, 9-7 MW) 11-8.

  • Spear hit a grand slam during the five-run eighth inning to cut into the Nevada lead late in the game.
  • It is Spear's third homerun in four games after homering twice at No. 1 Arkansas on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Spear also had an RBI single that drove in Dalton Bowling in the fourth inning.
  • Spear's five RBIs is a new career high.
  • Jackson Forbes had a pair of hits, including a double, while scoring a run and also driving one in.
  • Hunter Dorraugh had a double in a 3-for-4 outing at the plate and scored two runs.
  • Robert Hamchuk drove in a run with an RBI double during the five-run eighth inning.
