RENO, Nev. – Matt Spear hit a homerun for the second-straight game, and Theo Hardy sent his fifth over the wall as San José State (13-23, 8-10 MW) knocked off Nevada (14-17, 9-8 MW) 6-3 to close out the three-game series on Sunday afternoon.
- Spear hit a three-run homerun in the top of the sixth inning to give the Spartans a 4-0 lead.
- It was Spear's second homerun of the series and fourth in five games this week.
- The senior catcher finished the game with four RBIs.
- Hardy's two-run homerun in the top of the eighth inning was his fifth of the season and gave the Spartans a 6-0 lead.
- Nathan Cadena had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
- Sebastian Orduno had a pair of hits in the leadoff spot for the Spartans, including a triple in the fifth inning.
- Ethan Ross pitched a gem in six innings on the mound, striking out eight batters and only surrendering two hits to Nevada to get the win.
- Jesse Gutierrez earned the save in three innings of relief.
