Snow Earns Two Weekly MW Track and Field Honors

SAN JOSE, Calif.— Malachi Snow has been named the Mountain West Men's Track Athlete of the Week as well as Men’s Freshman of the Week after a strong showing at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational this past weekend in Gainesville, Fla.

Snow, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio took on some of the best competition in the nation at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational hosted by Florida in which he etched his name in SJSU history. Snow took first in the Men's 110m Hurdle Invite with a time of 13.33 seconds, a time that puts him as the current number one Men's 110m Hurdler in the NCAA as well as tops the All-Time performance list in SJSU history.  He also ran a leg in the Men's 4x100 relay in which the team had a personal best time.

Snow is the first member of Spartan Track and Field to win the honor of Mountain West Athlete of the Week so far this outdoor season.

  • In the Men's 110m Hurdles Invite against top competition from around the country, Snow won the event with a time of 13.33 seconds.
  • Snow also ran a leg in the Men's 4x100 relay, alongside teammates Cameron Tarver, Issac Davis and Jeremiah Walker where the team ran a personal best time of 39.73 seconds.
  • With his performance, Snow is now the NCAA number one ranked hurdler in the country in the Men’s 110m Hurdles.
  • Snow is also now the All-Time Mountain West Performance Leader in the Men’s 110mH.
  • With his time of 13.33, Snow is now the SJSU All-Time performance leader in Men’s 110-meter Hurdles, knocking Dedy Cooper's 13.43 (1978) off of the top spot.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Fresno, Calif., to continue the outdoor season in preparation for the Mountain West Championships and compete in the Fresno State Invitational on April 26-27.
