Spartans Take on Saint Mary's for Midweek Matchup

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State softball (13-23, 3-10 Mountain West) will travel about an hour north for a midweek non-conference matchup against Saint Mary’s (23-15, 3-1 WCC) on Wednesday, April 17. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. PDT from Cottrell Field in Moraga, Calif. The game can be seen on ESPN+.

NEWS AND NOTES

  • Reina Zermeno went 3-for-8 against San Diego State over the weekend including a triple which was her third of the season and tied her for the lead in the clubhouse.  
  • Zermeno currently leads the team in batting average, RBIs, home runs, slugging and on base. 
  • Aneesa Almaguer is currently coming off of a four game hit streak.
  • Lacie Ham went the distance in game two against San Diego State going 7.0 IP, giving up 6 hits and two runs. 
  • Ham’s complete game is her third of the season, she now leads the clubhouse in that category. 
  • Mia Reynolds is tied for fourth in the Mountain West with 17 starts.
  • Taylor Squires went 2-for-4 with two RBI singles and two runs scored in game three against the Aztecs.
  • Squires’ two RBIs set a new single-game season high for the junior.
  • Ashley Rico went 2-for-4 with two singles and one run scored against San Diego State in game three. 
  • Rico’s two hits and one run scored tied her single-game season highs in both categories. 
  • The Spartan are 15-6 all-time against the Gaels including winning three out of their last four meetings. 

NEXT GAME: The Spartans will have a quick one day turnaround and head out on the road for a three-game Mountain West weekend series against Colorado State starting with the first game on Friday, April 19. The game will start at 10:00 a.m. PDT from Fort Collins, Colo. All three games can be seen on the Mountain West Network.
