The San José State beach volleyball team is in Houston for the 2024 Southland Conference Championship this weekend, April 19-21.
- The Spartans enter the championship as the fourth seed and will face fifth-seed New Orleans to open the tournament Friday morning at 9 a.m. CT/7 a.m. PT
- If the Spartans win, they will play the winner of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi/Nicholls dual at 2 p.m. CT/12 p.m. PT.
- The Spartans are not eliminated if they lose Friday morning. The team would play the loser of the above listed match Saturday at 9 a.m. CT/7 a.m. PT.
- San José State enters the championship with a 12-10 overall record and a 3-4 Southland record.
- Jaida Ward and Jada Hall compete as the team’s number-one pair and have a 13-9 record on the season.
- Cheyenne Rice and Teila Allen have a 14-8 record this season, mostly playing the second position.
- Earlier this season, the Spartans fell 3-2 to New Orleans at the Southland Midseason Tournament. The dual was tied 2-2 and came down to Shirley Morrison and Anna Salmon in the fifth position. The match went three sets before UNO won 21-17, 23-25, 15-13.
