Spartans Drop Doubleheader at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Korie Thomas and Aubrie Thomas each had a hit for San José State softball (14-25, 3-12 MW) in a 16-0 game one loss in five innings and a 14-0 game two loss in five innings in a doubleheader against Colorado State (25-15, 8-7 MW) on Sunday from Ram Field in Fort Collins, Colo.

Game One vs. Colorado State

  • A. Thomas went 1-for-3 with a single. 
  • Taylor Squires went 1-for-3 with a single 
  • Squires had a hit in three straight games.
  • Reina Zermeno went 1-for-2 with a single. 
  • Zermeno is the current leader in the clubhouse in hits. 
  • Ashley Rico went 1-for-2 with a single. 
  • Mia Reynolds got the start in game one, her team leading 19th of the season.

Game Two vs. Colorado State

  • K. Thomas went 1-for-2 with a single.  
  • K. Thomas is hitting .600 over her last three games going 3-for-5.
  • Ashley Rico had a walk, her eighth of the year. She now sits third in the clubhouse in walks.  
  • Aneesa Almaguer also drew a walk, her third of the season. 
  • Alexis Toner made her seventh start of the year in game two. 

NEXT GAME: The Spartans will be back in San José for their final home stand of the season against Mountain West foe UNLV starting with the first game on Friday, April 26. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. PDT from Spartan Softball Stadium.
