FRESNO, Calif. – The San José State baseball team (16-23, 11-10 MW) earned the series sweep over Fresno State (25-13, 14-7 MW) with a 9-2 win on Sunday behind two home runs from Hunter Dorraugh and eight innings on the mound from Ethan Ross.

  • Ross's eight innings in the win on the mound was a career high for the senior left-hander. He struck out two batters in the game.
  • Dorraugh continued his dominance at the plate, homering twice in the game, including a three-run blast in the ninth inning that put the Spartans up 9-2.
  • He drove in five runs in the game and homered three times in the series.
  • The Spartans had five total home runs in the game, starting with Sebastian Orduno who led the game off with a home run in the first inning.
  • Robert Hamchuk followed later in the inning with a solo shot, his second of the series and seventh of the season.
  • Matt Spear hit his sixth home run in the last eight games with a bomb in the ninth inning.
  • The Spartans totaled 10 home runs in the series.
  • They also scored a total of nine runs in the first inning of all three games.
  • First three-game sweep at Fresno since April of 2012.
