FRESNO, Calif. – Nathan Cadena hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning as San José State (15-23, 10-10 MW) beat Fresno State (25-12, 14-6 MW) 12-7 to take game two and win the three-game series on Saturday.
- Cadena's home run was the sixth of the season and put the Spartans up 8-7 in the eighth inning
- Jared Lewis hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning, the first of his career and tied the ballgame 4-4 at the time.
- Hunter Dorraugh hit his seventh home run of the season and 36th of his career, extending his all-time record. The two-run shot came in the top of the seventh to cut the Spartan deficit to just one at 7-6.
- Dorraugh finished the game with three hits and a pair of RBIs.
- Dalton Bowling drove in a run in the top of the ninth to give the Spartans some insurance, making it 9-7.
- Theo Hardy then added on to the lead after a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth to make it 12-7
- The Spartans took an early lead in the top of the first after Robert Hamchuk drove in his fourth run of the series with a single that plated Sebastian Orduno.
- The Spartans as a team have now homered in seven-straight games.
- Corey Sanchez came on in relief to pitch two and one-third innings without surrendering a hit and striking out two batters and earning the win.
- Cade Van Allen locked it down for his third save of the season in one and two-thirds innings of relief.
