AUSTIN, Texas - San José State swimmer Ela Freiman was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America third team, as announced by the organization Tuesday morning. This is the first time an SJSU swimmer has received this honor since Darcie Anderson was a second-team At-Large Academic All-America selection in 2014.
"From her first day as a freshman, Ela has been one of our most amazing leaders," said head coach Sage Hopkins. "As a Biomedical Engineering major and team captain, there is a lot asked of Ela. I am profoundly impressed by her ability to balance a very demanding academic load and achieve such high levels of success in the pool and in the classroom"
