Spartans Set to Compete in Fresno State Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San José State track & field team will be back on the road for the last meet of the outdoor season before the Mountain West Championships and compete in the Fresno State Invitational starting on Friday through Saturday, April 26-27. The competition will kick off on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. 

The Spartans are coming off of a strong showing with multiple top-five finishes at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational hosted by Florida against some of the top competition in the country.

  • In the Men's 110m Hurdles Invite against top competition from around the country, Malachi Snow won the event with a time of 13.33.
  • With his finish Snow is now the number one ranked hurdler in the country in the Men’s 110m Hurdles.
  • Also in the Men's 110m Hurdles Invite, Demaris Waters placed fourth with a time of 13.40 seconds. 
  • Waters is currently ranked as the number seven hurdler in the country for the Men's 110m Hurdles.  
  • Both Snow and Waters are now number one and number two respectively on the SJSU all-time performance list for the Men’s 110mH.
  • In the Men's 110m Hurdles, Micah Hairston took second with a season best time of 13.99 seconds.
  • The Spartan Men’s 110m Hurdles event squad is currently ranked ninth in the nation. 
  • Emilia Sjostrand placed fifth in the Women's Triple Jump Invite in Florida with a distance of 13.33 meters.
  • Sjostrand is currently ranked as number seven in the nation and number two in the west region for the Women’s Triple Jump. 
  • Greta Fraraccio had a season best distance of 11.89 meters in the Women's Triple Jump at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational.
  • The Spartans Women’s Triple Jump event squad is currently ranked fourth in the nation. 
  • Alyssa Bean placed sixth in the Women's 200m with an outdoor lifetime best time of 23.95 seconds. 
  • The Spartans relay team of Selena Arjona-Alcazar, Eve Divinity, Morgan Little and Bean are currently ranked as number eight in the west region for the Women’s 4x100 relay.
  • In the Women's Long Jump, Divinity placed third at the Tom Jones Memorial Invite with a jump of 6.20 meters, a season best for her. 

UP NEXT: The Spartans will return to Clovis, Calif. to compete in the Mountain West Championships May 10-12.
