LAS VEGAS—The run to the championship ended on Friday as the eight-seeded San José State women’s tennis team fell to fourth-seed UNLV, 4-0, in the semifinals of the Mountain West Championship in Las Vegas.
- The Spartans finished the championship tied for third place
- After losing the doubles point, the singles play for SJSU was key, but UNLV was able to secure the win.
- Cheuk Ying Shek, the MW Freshman of the Year, was ahead in her match, 7-5, 3-1, before the contest ended.
- Rozalina Youseva was up in the second set, 5-3, looking to force a third set in her match.
- San José State ends the 2024 season with a 15-8 overall record, the most wins since the 2021 season when SJSU won the MW Championships.
- Four Spartans will graduate this May with their degree – Carolina Millan, Irena Muradyan, Jovana Babic and Youseva.
