SAN JOSE, Calif. – Ashley Rico hit her second home run of the season for San José State softball (15-27, 4-14 MW) in a 5-2 loss on Senior Day and the final game of this weekend series against UNLV (29-16, 12-7 MW) on Sunday from Spartan Softball Stadium.
Prior to first pitch the Spartans celebrated their five seniors, Makenzie Hutchinson, Malia Luna, Korie Thomas, Adrianna Noriega and Rico for Senior Day. A member from each senior’s family threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
- Rico went 1-for-3 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored.
- Rico’s home run was her second of the year and moves the senior in to second place on the team in HRs.
- Rico’s one run scored tied her single-game season high.
- Luna went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk.
- Luna tied her single-game season high for hits.
- Reina Zermeno was 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI.
- Zermeno’s RBI was her 32nd of the season.
- Aubrie Thomas had a walk, hit by pitch and a run scored.
- Mia Reynolds made the start in game three, her 20th of the season.
- Reynolds currently leads the team in starts.
