SAN JOSE, Calif.— Emilia Sjostrand has been named the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week after a double of first place finishes at the Fresno State Invitational this past weekend in Clovis, Calif.
- In the Women’s Long Jump Invite, her season opener for the event, Sjostrand took first place with a jump of 6.32 meters.
- Competing in the Womens Triple Jump as well, Sjostrand took first place with a jump of 13.43 meters, an outdoor season best for her.
- After her performance in Clovis, Sjostrand is now ranked fifth in the nation for Women’s Triple Jump with her jump of 13.43 meters.
- In addition, Sjostrand is also ranked as number two in the west region in Women’s Triple Jump.
- Sjostrand is currently leading the Women’s Triple Jump event squad for SJSU to a ranking of number five in the country.
- Sjostrand holds the school record for Women's Long Jump with a mark of 6.48m
- Sjostrand also holds the school record for Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 13.92m
- This is the third time in her career Sjostrand has won the weekly award.
UP NEXT: Sjostrand and the Spartans will travel back to Clovis, Calif., to begin the postseason with the Mountain West Championships on May 10-12.
